Working slowly. But throwing out less.

I will leave this one for awhile.

Oil Sketch

Theodore,
oil sketch on mylar.

Here is one of the two {adorable} reasons why I don't post much.
His older sister had many portraits when she was little, I try to find time to do one of him now and again.
I am working in my new space. I am keeping more than I am throwing out, so things are getting better. The rust is leaving.

Tea Pot and Star Cloth
18 x 24"
pencil on mylar.
Briana Corr Scott

Hey, it has been months. I have been setting up the new space and trying to draw and scrape off the rust that has settled in. Maternity leave is almost over, it is time to get back to work.

                   Sketch-Isabael at the beach.
                   colored pencil on brown paper
                   20 min.

I can only draw her when she is concentrating, or lost in her own mind. This time it
was at the beach, burying her legs in the sand. There were not many beach days this
summer, I am grateful to take her now in October--it was a rare warm day.

He is losing that "newborn" look, as well as his hair. Now
he only looks tiny when he is sleeping. Trying to hang on to
         these  things a little longer....

Sketchbook: Seals

Drawn in the library, 15 mins., waiting to pick up little apprentice from school. She later added the colored  pencil marks for me.

Sketchbook: Fionn Sleeping

A busy summer...a new baby, adjusting, moving out of the studio (finding new places for things), visiting, adjusting...did I mention adjusting? Adjusting to no time (but happy times) ever changing pant sizes, Izzy in school, and rare times with two hands...stealing quick sketches here and there is all I can manage... a joyous 10 minutes amongst all the other joyous new things life has brought to us over the summer.

Please enjoy viewing my sketchbook over the next few months, I know I enjoy these quick life sketches (done on borrowed time), and working out a few ideas for things to come.

This is my (beautiful, cute, adorable) nephew sleeping.

Summer

I haven't been painting since the birth of my son,  and since I closed my studio. I am too busy (and too tired) to start anything large. I have been sketching daily, enjoying the fact that when I do set up a new studio I will be starting from "scratch", since I sold most of my paintings at my studio closing.

Here is a painting I finished just before Teddy was born. It is currently on view, with a few other of my paintings, at JDA Architects in Halifax, near the new Farmers Market. You can see the start of the painting here.

I have also updated my website. You can see that here: www.brianacorrscott.com
